Atlantis Ocean Mind

If you're looking for an alternative to the expense of Microsoft Word but don't want to lose functionality, Atlantis Ocean Mind hits the mark all the way.

Atlantis is designed for writers. A lot of word processors these days (especially the expensive big names) are only available in bulky office suites with features writers don't need. Atlantis is a fast-loading stand-alone word processor designed for writers.

Along with standard word processing features, Atlantis offers a few unique ones too. One of those is the Clippy Bank, an internal clipboard where you can store information and paste it back into your documents. Unlike the Windows clipboard, Clippy Bank holds unlimited data and stays there until you delete it. It's a great tool during the editing and rewriting process.

Also unique to Atlantis is the ability to set sound schemes and to customize toolbar icons with your own images. Menus can also be customized. You can download add-ons from the web site to create these schemes, or you can use one of the schemes offered by Rising Sun Solutions. My favorite sound scheme is the "old school" typewriter scheme.

Atlantis defaults with the more professional looking curved quotation marks, which you can turn off if you like. In addition to its standard spellcheck dictionary and customizable personal dictionary, Atlantis supports a variety of specialized dictionaries, available free. Atlantis also comes with an array of templates.

Other tools in Atlantis include a document statistics report that gives you page and word counts as well as other useful information pertaining to your documents. Of special note is the autocorrect feature. It deserves an award. It's fully configurable and checks not only for all the standard stuff, but for consitency in spacing as well, making it one of the highlights of Atlantis Ocean Mind.

The default format for Atlantis documents is rich text, but Atlantis also reads and writes Microsoft Word files.

For those who have used Microsoft Word, you'll be pleased to find Atalantis works very much the same way. The only thing missing is the ridiculous price tag.

Rising Sun Solutions is a great company too. The emphasis is on making sure customers are satisfied. I've been a part of the beta testing team, and trust me, the company is always working to make the Atlantis word processor the best it can be.

Atlantis is a lean, mean writing machine. It's feature-rich without being heavy, and it's extremely affordable at $35.00. Check out Rising Sun Solutions to download a trial.
